The vibrant city of Valencia...

...is Spain's third largest and the capital of the Comunidad Valenciana autonomous region. The city is professed to have some of the best nightlife in Spain with a large array of bars and discothèques to enjoy.

Valencia is home to the 32nd America’s Cup in 2007 and the 33rd America's Cup in 2009 and the city has undergone some major transitions to services and infrastructure to prepare for the races and the influx of tourism that the event is expected to bring. The seafront and marina area has been refurbished and the long sandy beaches are lined with bars and restaurants to sample the local cuisine, including their traditional dish called 'Paella'. The airport has also undergone a major upgrade to allow for the additional flights and airlines.

The European Formula One Grand Prix is to be held in Valencia from August 2008 and the track will wind it's way around the port area of the city making for a spectacular venue.

Valencia has numerous museums and exhibitions to explore and the newly created City of Arts and Science, (Ciudad de las Artes y de las Ciencias), with its spectacular futuristic architecture is one of the most impressive. Amongst it’s other attractions. the centre is host to L’Oceanográfic, Europe’s largest aquarium and dolphinarium.

Valencia is also home to CF Valencia, one of the big teams in La Liga. The impressive La Mastalla stadium is located just south of the dry river bed and you can visit their official website and buy match tickets here.

Local Fiestas...

Valencia is most renowned for it’s annual Fallas Fiesta held in March. The gigantic, (up to 20m in height), sculpted structures of cardboard and wood, named “Falla”, humorously portray the most relevant current events and personalities. These are then set alight in a finale that, coupled with some major firework displays make up one of the most impressive fiestas on the Costa Blanca!

5th January - Three Kings (Spanish Christmas)
14-19 March – La Fallas de San Jose Fiesta
2nd Sunday in May - Virgen de los Desamparados Fiesta
July - Feria de Julio Fiesta
October - Day of Comunidad Valenciana (Moors & Christians Fiesta)
